Sleek Lipstick in Coral Reef- £4.99

I received this lipstick in my Glossybox, and couldn’t help but wear it none stop. That has to be a good sign, right. When I first looked at the colour, I thought to myself, oh god this is a hideous colour, and why would anyone wear it. Yet I’ve worn it none stop, just in the house, for two days. I couldn’t wear it outside though, it’s not a colour I’d feel comfortable wearing in public. I personally don’t like wearing lipstick out and about, because it draws attention to my mouth, and my braces, so I prefer to wear pale transparent pinks, and clears, then draw attention to my eyes. I definitely wouldn’t feel confident enough to get away with wearing this colour. If you’re more on the daring side, I’d definitely recommend this colour though, it’s really cool.
So lets get down to the details. Firstly, I absolutely love the packaging. You can’t go wrong with matte black in my eyes. The colour is an orangey pink colour, well, like coral, quite obviously, and you can see the colour in the photos above. It has a very moisturising feel to it, and glides on beautifully. It’s very easy to work with. It’s very transferable mind, I have orange lip marks on all my cups. Even though it transfers onto everything, it still managed to stay on my lips well. After three hours, I’d say I needed to reapply it, but only a very thin layer. I did drink and eat during this time. It doesn’t dry your lips out at all, which is a bonus for myself. There’s not much of a smell to this lipstick, I’m a fan of flavoured lipstick and lipgloss, but I’d rather no smell then that horrible typical lipstick smell. I think it’s very good value for money, it doesn’t feel cheap, it feels like a more higher brand lipstick. I’d definitely like to try out their other colours, maybe when I have my braces off I’ll feel more comfortable wearing bolder colours.

I’d give this lipstick a 6/10

Hope you enjoyed!

Glossybox, introduction and first review.

So today I received my Glossybox. I never knew these existed until a few weeks ago, but decided to try it out for a few months, as I’ve seen a lot of good reviews. They cost £12.95 a month, that’s including P&P and you get 5 sample products. A few of them can be full sized. I’m not sure if it’s worth the money yet, I’m going to judge that after a couple of months, if I actually use the product samples I receive, and if I like a product enough to go out and buy it full size. My first initial impression of the box and presentation its self is good, I love the silver and black look. As you can see my bed sheets are silver (and black), so that was automatically a good sign for me. It’s wrapped up with a cute little bow, and lots of padding. Everything was in good condition and no breakages. I think they’re normally pink and black, which I’m not as keen on, maybe this was a Christmas theme, but never the less it’s presented well, and it’s very appealing.

The main reason I wanted to try Glossybox out, was to get some experience with high end products, and products I’d not necessarily choose in every day life myself. It definitely has me intrigued, and I’m dying to test out the products inside. Another reason I wanted to try these boxes out, is so I can do a few makeup reviews. As a few of you may know, I’m planning to go to uni next September(hopefully I’ll get in) and I want to practise writing, and you know getting back into the swing of things. It’s a makeup and prosthetics course, so this is definitely the right thing to get me back into writing.

What’s inside the box?

Rituals- Magic Touch body cream

Full size 200ml: £15

Seche- Nail lacquer, in the colour Magnifique

Full size 14ml: £9.95 (I received full size)

Sleek Makeup- True Colour Lipstick, in the colour Coral Reef

Full size 3.5g: £4.99

Mary Greenwell- Lemon by Mary Greenwell Eau De Parfum

Full size 100ml: £90, 50ml: £60

Argentum Apothecary- La Potion Infinie

Full size 70ml: £147

I also received a bonus Glossybox blusher.

So I was pretty pleased with the items I received, and was quite surprised there was such an expensive cream in there. I was also happy with the fact i got a full sized nail Lacquer, which in its self is the same price as the box. I will be reviewing the lipstick, body cream, and nail lacquer. The reasons why I won’t be reviewing the others is because the Argentum Apothecary cream is an anti ageing cream, I’m going to give to my Mum to use. I really don’t like the perfume, so there’s not much to say about that apart from it’s not my cup of tea. I’m not a blusher wearer, so won’t be reviewing this either, but it’ll be nice to have, in case I change my mind. I will be popping some reviews up on the others in the next few days, so keep an eye out for them. I would review the nail lacquer sooner, but my hands are currently purple from dying my hair last night, it’s not a good look. I’d also just like to say that all the products I’ve received haven’t been tested on animals, and I made sure that was the first thing I checked out.

Hope you’ve enjoyed, and please follow my blog for more reviews and updates on Glossybox and the products inside.

I’d planned to do nail art today, but instead ended up doing this. I’ve seen these tops all over the Internet for years, and I’ve been dying to do it for ages. So today seemed like a good day. I absolutely love them!!

Perfect Pin Stripe.

I’ve tried free handing pin stripes so many times, and it just comes out awful. I do not have a steady hand at all when it comes to it, so this is great for me. Try it out, it’s so easy to do and it looks great. I wore these out last night and got so many compliments.

What you’ll need:

- Two colours of your choice and a top coat

- Striping tape

- Scissors

What you need to do:

- Paint your base coat (one or two coats)

- Let it dry for at least a good hour or two.

- Start applying the striping tape.

- Once you’ve finished with the striping tape, paint over it all in your second colour of choice. Lighter colours usually take two coats.

- Once the second coat is dry, remove the striping tape.

- Apply top coat, and your done.

Well, I haven’t done any nail art for a long long time. So here’s a quick little Jack Skellington set I’ve done just to get me back into it. I’ve seen so many amazing ones out there this one seems so inadequate.

Gradient nail tutorial!

What you will need:

- Coloured base coat

- Another colour, that works well with the base

- Clear top coat

- Bath sponge

- Scrap paper/mixing pallet

1. Paint your base coat. I find two thin layers works well.

2. Wait about half an hour in between both coats, as you don’t want your colours mixing.

3. Drop some polish onto the paper, and dip a corner of your sponge into the polish.

4. Dab off excess polish.

5. Create the gradient by starting a thicker layer at the top of the nail, then dap thinner and lighter working your way to about three quarters down the nail.

6. Wait for the colour to dry.

7. Finally add one or two top coats of clear top coat.

There you have it, a real simple and easy effect to create. It looks really cool. It’ll take a few times to perfect, and getting colours right. I’m not 100% keen on these two colours, but I’m going out and these colours match my outfit :) Enjoy!!
